First Take: Cafe Caturra in Cary for Sammich Deliciousness

Cafe Caturra in Raleigh is one of my favorite lunch spots, it works in so many ways as a wine bar, eatery and more.  And because it’s so close to me, I had never made it out to any of the other Cafe Caturra locations in the area but finally I did!  Cafe Caturra Cary is located at the intersection of High House Road and Davis and you can’t miss it! The restaurant has a towering entrance with a large sign 35′ high, very different from the subdued and quiet front of Cafe Caturra Raleigh.  Inside there are some similarities: fireplace, nice cafe interior and counter.  However, this Cafe Caturra had a hostess stand out front and assigned seating.  We grabbed a table on the large sidewalk patio up front to enjoy the sun.

The menu here has some similarities but also some differences from its Raleigh sister.  Some different small plates, tacos along with the usual favorites of mine: curry chicken sandwich, sliders, pizza and the flatbreads and spreads app.  I ordered up the flat bread and roast beef panini for my meal.  A bottle of water was brought to the table which was a nice touch.  Service was a bit slow but the wait person had a trainee which might have been an issue, no big deal.

The flatbreads app with spreads was pretty much identical to what I’ve gotten elsewhere, tasty as usual.  Thin, crisp wood-oven breads with goat cheese, white-bean and sun-dried tomato spreads, yum. The roast beef panini was quite good, stuffed with thin sliced beef, melted, nutty swiss and carmelized onions.  A really delicious and filling sandwich, the bread was buttered and grilled which just adds to the flavor and calorie count.

It was a very satisfying meal as I would expect from Cafe Caturra and the sunny patio makes for a great experience.  And while it’s different from my favorite in Cameron Village, Cafe Caturra Cary is equally good in a different way.  Same great Cafe Caturra food in a slightly different setting.  I’m sure this place is super popular in the hood and deservedly so.  So rock on Cafe Caturra!  I’m never ever disappointed when I eat here and glad to see you have the same great food and experience in your other locations.
